As in all close ball games it all comes down to pitching and the most telling stat was that of walks and hit by pitches. The Lynx allowed 16 free passes compared to 6 by the Millsaps pitching staff. Sophomore Max Gertz (0-1) picked up the loss for the Lynx working the last two innings. Gertz came into the game in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded and no one out. He quickly got a double play and a strike out to stop the Millsaps rally. In the ninth, the Millsaps offense struck again with a two out bases loaded walk to score the eventual game winner.
The Lynx offense continued its productive start of the season pounding out 18 hits, 6 doubles, a triple and hit two homeruns.
